Medium is difficult.
From the eyes of a new writer.
Posting daily long-form writing is hard. Not because the process of writing daily is hard. Only because distribution is hard.
As a new writer, you need as many eyes on your work as possible. This is how you grow. The best way to get eyes on your work is distribution.
The cold hard truth — distribution takes time and publications are slow.
If you want to post daily and submit to publications, you must write 2 articles per day. One to publish and the other to submit to a publication. This makes it hard unless you have a ton of free time.
Maybe it’s a good idea to only start posting once you have 3 weeks of articles written. This will give you a head start and allow time for the publications to get you published. You can always self publish until you get extra articles written.
For now, I’ll be self publishing and hoping for distribution from the Medium editors. I don’t have the extra time for now. It will all work out either way.
When you first started how did you handle this?
