Servers are the most important computer.
They’re what allow the websites you visit work. Servers are what power companies, and the data then need. Without servers, the world would run on personal computers. The internet would be a slow, privacy nightmare.

What’s a server?
A server is similar to the computer you use at work or in your home. But they are built for reliability. A server can run without being shut down for years at a time. They are powerful to allow multiple connections and apps run at once.
What the difference between my computer and a server?
The biggest difference is the number of components they can have installed. The other difference is the type of components they use.
Servers have options for multiple processors, many sticks of RAM, multiple network ports, multiple power supplies and more hard drives. Everything is built for possible failures. This is called redundancy.
The parts used are faster and more reliable than the computer you use. Speed and long uptime (how long the server have been running without being shutdown) are essential for servers.
